Description

BIO 4954 Natural History of the Everglades Watershed with Lab (4 Credit Hours) An overview of the aquatic ecosystems that composed the historic Everglades watershed. Key concepts in stream ecology, limnology, wetlands ecology, and estuarine ecology will be covered and related to habitats in the Everglades ecosystem. Topics will include, but are not limited to, the hydrology, biota, biogeochemistry, and anthropogenic influences of the Everglades. Field trips to Lake Okeechobee, local wetlands, and the Florida Bay estuary will be part of the laboratory (BIO 4900), in which all students in this course must enroll.
