PSY 5403 Ethnicity and Multi-Cultural Issues in
Counseling: A Psychosocial Analysis (equivalent to EDU 5453)
3 Credit Hours
This course will help students to develop awareness, knowledge, and skills in order to most effectively and competently provide services in diverse settings. The course will present an exploration of complex educational, cultural, and psychological factors that shape our identities and worldviews as teachers, counselors, students, and clients. Course content emphasizes the development and enhancement of multi-cultural and ethnic awareness and how this impacts counseling. The interrelationship of psychology and sociology in understanding the social systems in which individuals grow and develop will also be explained.
