The Office of Disability Services (ODS) exists to support students with all types of disabilities. Documented disabilities eligible for accommodation include Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, hearing impairments, learning disabilities, medical/health conditions, physical/mobility issues, psychological disabilities, speech impairments, visual impairments, and other disabilities. We mainly provide support through academic accommodations, but we also hope to provide emotional and spiritual support through a personal investment by our staff. Motivated by a Christian conviction that we ought to care for all people, our goal is to provide equal access to both academic and non-academic programs and facilities for students with disabilities.

The following should be included in faculty syllabi so that students are aware of their rights and responsibilities as provided under the ADA:

“Palm Beach Atlantic University complies with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) of 1990, as well as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, by providing reasonable and appropriate accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities. Students who have questions about their entitlement to benefits or who have grievances under these statutes should contact Jeriel Rolle, Director of Academic and Accessibility resources (561) 803-2063. The Office of Academic and Accessibility Resources (OOAR) is located on the 2nd floor in the Lassiter Student Center. Accommodations will only be provided after the student has officially registered with OOAR. It is the responsibility of the student to make the request and to provide each course instructor a copy of the approved accommodations plan, immediately after receiving them. Accommodations are not retroactive."
