EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION NETWORK:

Palm Beach Atlantic University has long recognized the need to prepare for and respond to emergency incidents that pose a threat to the health and safety of the campus community.

While an “emergency” by its very definition is an unforeseen event, it requires immediate action. Palm Beach Atlantic in partnership with Rave Mobile Safety® has instituted the Palm Beach Atlantic University Emergency Notification Network (ENN) known as PBA Alert!

PBA Alert! is an outgoing notification system, not an incoming notification system. There are three methods to notify the University of an emergency: 1) Rave Guardian® app; 2) network computer takeover; 3) email/SMS noitifications.

ALERT:

When situations arise that pose a threat to the community, the University will make a timely warning notification using a variety of methods. Threats include, but are not limited to, impending natural disasters (hurricanes, tropical storms, tornadoes, etc.) criminal activity, acts of terror, known safety threats on or off-campus. Warnings may originate from a number of administrative departments and will use one or more of the following dissemination means that make up the Emergency Notification Network:

  1. Text Messaging powered by Rave Alert®: A SMS message sent to those whose number is registered with the University. To check your registration information go to go.pba.edu/change and verify/update your personal information. Information submitted is verified and updated within 24 business hours.
  2. Computer Takeover powered by Rave Alert®: Rave Alert communicates directly to online University network computers which creates a browser pop-up alert on each networked computer (computers that have been set up and are on the PBA domain) that relays the message.
  3. Email Notification powered by Rave Alert®: An auto-populated list of persons set up by Campus Information Services will receive a message detailing the emergency and steps to take.
