Permit Option and Price

 

 

Resident, Main Campus

$400 

This decal permits the vehicle owner to park 24/7 in non-reserved spaces in the Dixie Garage, Watson Lot, and Borbe Lot. Parking is prohibited at the Arkona/Coastal Towers residences and in the commuter lots.

First-Year students are NOT eligible for this permit type, regardless of earned credit hours. This is an important distinction given the credit hours some new students earn in high school through dual enrollment and AP testing.

Freshman who earned credits at PBA in the Fall semester remain ineligible to park on campus in the Spring semester.

This permit will be automatically approved until the permit type reaches capacity, allowing payment to be applied immediately.

Once at capacity, a waitlist feature will go into effect.

 

 

Commuter

$250

This permit authorizes the vehicle owner to park M-F in the surface lots designated for commuter students. Please reference the parking guide for more information.

This permit will be automatically approved, allowing payment to be applied immediately.

 

 

Coastal Towers/Arkona Residence

$500 

This permit authorizes the vehicle owner to park in the reserved lot at their Arkona or Coastal Towers residence. The spaces are not individually assigned. Please note that permits will not be sold over the capacity of each lot.

For example, 48 spaces at Coastal Towers equates to 48 permits for the Spring term.

Applications for this permit are waitlisted to allow the Public Safety office to review submissions and approve them, to prevent going over-capacity at Coastal or Arkona.

Once approved, you will be emailed with a notification that you may now access the payment tab to purchase this permit.

 

 

Bicycles

Decal Fee: $0.00

Decal Pick-up: Decals will be available for pickup at the Public Safety Office during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

 

FREE U-Bolts are available at the Public Safety Office when registering your bicycle.

One free U-Bolt is permitted per student at the time of registration, availability permitting.

 

Please provide the color, make, model, and serial number of your bicycle. All bicycles manufactured after 1968 have been issued a serial number that can be found underneath the bike pedal mount. Typically, you will need to flip the bike over to see this identification number. Please provide this number in the VIN section of the registration page. Please take a picture of your bike from the front and side and keep these photos easily accessible on your phone. Bicycles must be secured using a U-Bolt Bike lock as they provide enhanced security against theft. Please secure your bicycle to a bike rack on campus. Bicycles not secured using a U-Bolt or not securing it to a bike rack may be cited or confiscated.

Electric Bikes: Please note that eBikes (and other battery-powered mobility options) must have UL certification for their battery unit(s). As a safety precaution, eBikes are not permitted in University structures, including classrooms and residence halls. Please visit the Public Safety office if you have any questions or concerns regarding your vehicle's UL certification.

 

 

Motorcycles and Scooters

Owners of Motorcycles and Motorized Scooters are required to register for a free parking permit to park on campus. Please provide the vehicle’s color, make, model, and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). A valid license plate and current registration are required.

Motorcycles: Motorcycles are given a small decal that should be affixed near the license plate. Please take a picture of your motorcycle from the front and side and keep these photos easily accessible on your phone. Motorcycle parking is found in the Dixie Parking Garage, on the first floor, and alongside Wallingford Place (outside the Greene Complex). Parking alongside a building is prohibited, and any violator will be cited.

Motorized Scooters: Scooters are given a small decal that should be affixed near the license plate or on the rear fender. Scooter parking is found in the Dixie Parking Garage, on the first floor, and alongside Wallingford Place (outside the Greene Complex). Please take a picture of your motorized scooter from the front and side and keep these photos easily accessible on your phone. Parking alongside a building is prohibited, and any violator will be cited. For scooters that do not have any license plate issued, please use your PBA ID as your license plate. Scooters do have a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), and that identification will need to be provided.

 

Skateboards and Longboards

Skateboarding and longboarding can be enjoyable and efficient ways to get around campus, but it is crucial to follow the guidelines and prioritize safety.

By registering your skateboard or longboard, you contribute to a safer campus environment while enjoying the convenience of getting around on wheels.

 

Skateboarding is prohibited in all buildings on PBA property. Skateboarding is permitted solely for transportation purposes between buildings under the following conditions:

  • Skaters must yield to all pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Skaters may not damage any property.
  • Skaters must travel at a safe speed, may not do any jumping, may not ride over or jump steps or curbs, and must remain on smooth paved surfaces.

 

Decal Registration: Register your skateboard or longboard by providing your contact information and skateboard/longboard details. This includes the color, make, and any unique identifiers (if applicable).

Decal Placement: Once registered, you will receive a small decal that should be affixed to your skateboard or longboard. Please ensure the decal is prominently displayed for easy identification.

Parking Guidelines: Leaving skateboards and longboards in non-designated areas or obstructing pathways may result in citations or confiscation of the skateboard/longboard.

Photo Documentation: Take photos of your skateboard or longboard from different angles and keep them accessible on your phone. In the event of loss or theft, these photos will aid in identification and recovery.

Q: I keep getting an Error message on the parking portal when attempting to buy my decal.  What do I do?

A: If you are having trouble logging in, encounter an error message, or do not see a decal type available to purchase, please email Campus_Parking@pba.edu.  Provide a detailed description of the issue and if possible send a screenshot of the error to help assist our technical team in diagnosing and resolving the problem more effectively.  

Q: What information is required for vehicle registration?

A: When registering your vehicle, you will need to provide the registrant and contact information, vehicle make, model, year, license plate number, state of issuance, and the permanent home address of the registrant.

Q: Can I transfer or lend my parking permit to someone else?

A: No, parking permits are non-transferable and should not be lent or given to another person. Each permit is assigned to a specific vehicle and should be used only on the registered vehicle.

Q: Are parking permits refundable?

A: No - generally speaking, parking permits are not refundable. If circumstances prove that a permit will go unused for an academic term (e.g. withdrawal/transfer early in the semester, medical limitations, loss of vehicle), a refund will be considered on a case-by-case basis by Public Safety administration.

Q: How should I properly display my parking permit?

A: Parking permits should be affixed to the lower corner of the driver's side of the rear windshield. They should be clearly visible and free from obstruction when properly parked. Do not place permits on the front windshield or on top of other stickers or decals.

 

Parking Areas and Regulations

Q: Where can I park on campus?

A: You can park in designated parking spaces or parking lots indicated by signage and markings on campus. Please refer to the parking map and signage for specific parking regulations and permit requirements in different areas.

Q: I am a Freshman Athlete.  Where can I park my vehicle?

A: Freshman Athletes are eligible for the Main Campus residential permit, starting in the Spring 2024 term.

Q: Are there reserved parking spaces for specific groups or individuals?

A: Yes, certain parking spaces are reserved for specific groups or individuals, such as disability-accessible spaces, visitor and guest spaces, and reserved spaces for faculty, staff, or contractors. These spaces are designated with signage or markings.

Q: What are the rules for disabled parking?

A: Community members with permanent or temporary disabled parking permits are authorized to park in disability-accessible spaces on university properties with a valid PBA parking decal. Vehicles without a valid decal remain subject to citation, immobilization, tow, and related fees. Disability-accessible parking spaces are marked with blue signage or curbs painted blue or marked with a wheelchair symbol.

Q: Are there visitor and guest spaces?

These areas must remain clear to ensure the safety and accessibility of emergency services, deliveries, and other important functions. Violations in these areas may result in immediate towing, fines, and other enforcement actions.

Q: What should I do if my vehicle is immobilized (booted) or towed?

A: If your vehicle has been immobilized (booted) or towed for violating parking regulations, contact the Department of Public Safety at 561.803.2500 or email campus_parking@pba.edu. They will provide instructions on how to proceed, including the necessary steps to have the immobilization device removed or to retrieve your towed vehicle.

Q: How can I report an abandoned or inoperable vehicle on campus?

A: If you notice an abandoned or inoperable vehicle on campus, please report it to the Department of Public Safety. Provide them with the vehicle's location, a description, and any other relevant details. They will investigate and take appropriate action in accordance with university policies and local regulations.

Q: Can I post or advertise anything on my vehicle while parked on campus?

PBA's Parking Update

Hello Sailfish,

We want to make sure you are aware that PBA's Parking Committee has recently determined that incoming resident freshmen (including freshmen with completed credit hours) will not be eligible for on-campus parking permits in their first year of study. This is to ensure that sufficient parking will be available for students who commute to campus and those in their second year and beyond who live there.

To serve our incoming freshman student families, PBA's neighbors at One Parking have established a discounted rate in parking garages at The Square, a favorite of PBA students for shopping, dining, and more. Incoming PBA students can receive a discounted rate of $95 a month. We've polled some of our current PBA students who frequently walk to The Square, and they've reported that it takes about 13 minutes to get to the garage on foot and/or use West Palm Beach's free Ride Circuit option. Please see OneParking's flyer for instructions to sign up for this parking opportunity. You'll need your PBA email.

As you are considering whether or not to bring your car to college, please feel free to discuss options with your Admissions Counselor. PBA's campus and the West Palm Beach area are very walkable locations. The airport is about about 15 minutes away from campus, and Miami and Fort Lauderdale are accessible via Brightline, which is also just a few minutes walk from campus. On any given day here in West Palm Beach, PBA students can be seen walking to many local coffee shops, restaurants, businesses, and churches in the downtown area and the beach.
