General Information - Scholarships & Grants

Scholarships and grants can go a long way to help cover educational expenses, and best of all they are awards that do not have to be repaid. PBA offers a variety of merit-based scholarships for academic excellence and talent in athletics, dance, music and theatre. Federal and State scholarships are also available to eligible students. Additionally, outside scholarships are a great resource for students who are planning for success.

Apply for non-PBA scholarships/grants/fellowships by visiting the websites listed on this PDF.

All students are encouraged to apply for outside scholarships. Numerous resources are available online. Please take advantage of the opportunities listed here (via myPBA --> Student Finances --> Financial Aid Homepage --> Outside Scholarships). Finding outside scholarships can be hard work, but the payoff is great! It is important to know where to begin on your journey to find additional funding for college.

First, explore your community. Does your hometown have clubs, organizations, community foundations, fire departments, police departments, or churches that award scholarships? It never hurts to ask! Many organizations give scholarship money to students and often these opportunities are not advertised.

General Scholarship Requirements:

In good academic standing with PBA Orlando

S. citizen or permanent resident OR international non-resident alien with an active F-1 student visa

If you were awarded the Miguel Vargas Ministry, Orlando Merit, and Single Mother scholarships in the past, you are ineligible to apply at this time.

Online submission of a well-written, coherent 250-word essay in response to the following question:

Explain how you will use your degree from PBA to impact people and make a positive difference in the world.

Undergraduate & Graduate Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

Be a current degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student (excludes graduate Leadership students)

Demonstrate financial need

Not in your last semester at PBA

Current minimum PBA cumulative GPA: Undergraduate 2.5; Graduate 3.0

Pursuing 1^st bachelor’s or master’s degree

Completed a minimum of 2 semesters at PBA Orlando (Students completing their second semester at PBA by August 19, 2018 may apply.)

Currently registered in Fall semester courses at PBA Orlando

Not a current PBA employee receiving tuition reimbursement
